Somebody recently came on here saying he got the 75 and hated it. However he brought online without even seeing an example in person, let alone trying it. The majority of what he didnt like was personal preference and he could have avoided his dissappointment by trying it first. This is the best advice for you.

I have a Mexican 72, and assuming the basic design is the same, I'd wager the USA one is great. The neck shape and size and small frets make for the best chording electric I've tried. The worst thing is the neck pickup, but the USA made one is going to have better pups. I think the bridge pup is from the 62 custom?

Would love to try both but there is none in my area (Central Ca.). The '75 butt stock is a good idea for weight relief and a bit more stretch. Called Fender the other day for main differences: '75 has '62 Vintage pup on bridge, '72 has current model pup on bridge. '72 is lacquer finish were as '75 is polly. Both are ash, both have 7.25 radius. A good friend said lacquer over polly, any day it's a no brainer. Still, like you say, would love to play both side by side. I have an American Standard and A Nashville now and am a real big fan of Tele's (playing the hell outta my Nash).

So can anyone tell me the specific differences between the '62 bridge lipstick and the current model ones being used?

thats the previous thread i mentioned with the guy bitching about the '75. but as you can see, most is personal preference. and worst case scenario, like he did he sent it back.

you would 'assume' that a current model pickup is going to be a bit more powerful than anything specifically vintage made. but that is an assumption.

^^ That's too funny. I actually played one of the '75's by accident. I was in a music store and I just grabbed a Tele off the wall to try out an amp. After playing for about 20 minutes, I started thinking, "Man, I think I really like this guitar!" The longer I played it, the more I liked it. Turns out it was the '75 Telebration model! If I had $1700 to spare, I would have taken it home.

Thanks moochy for the link. That dude is a bit upset and maybe rightfully so if he
paid that much doe. With all people, there is an amount of expectation (me..$2000
buys 4 months of groceries, or at least that's what my wife tells me) so when I get another axe I'm reminded how many bags of "groceries" I'm buying, LOL. When I purchased my Deluxe-Nashville, I knew it was coming via Mexico and my fingers were crossed that I didn't end up with a piece. You know, that thing turned out really nice! So maybe I'll lean a bit more to the American Vintage '72 tele-custom. I think what intrigues me most is the different sound combos I could get with the 2 different pickups. I'm allowed 1 more guitar this year at Labor Day when my bonus comes in so..............(7 currently!)=>
