Hey Everyone!
I just bought a used Tele . . . a real gem! Unfortunately, I am having some trouble determining it's pedigree :
It's a butterscotch lacquer color, with a chambered (!!!) ash body and a spruce top (there are no "F"-holes like regular Thinline models, but the guitar is very light and incredibly resonant). Appears to have a vintage bridge and saddles (but came with another brand new bridge in the case, still plastic-wrapped), and a standard black pickguard. Maple neck and vintage-style tuning pegs. I have removed the pickguard, and can see the year 2004 stamped on the butt-end of the neck (very small, not like the older, vintage neck date-stamps).
Does anyone know where on the body I might find the serial number? (have seen nothing so far on the headstock, neck plate, or under the pickguard). I have come across a few links online suggesting this might be a limited model made specifically for the 2004 NAMM show (apparently only 104 made of each of two different finishes) . . . anyone know who to talk to in order to confirm this?
Thanks folks!

Hey urchinmerchant: The Twelth Fret in Toronto had limited editions of chambered telecasters ordered from the NAMM show about one or two years ago. They came in cherry red with rosewood fingerboard and I think, one like yours. A beautiful looking guitar. Light weight, about six pounds. Every time I tried to see one they were sold out. They got about three shipments in and they sold fast.

Their web site is: www.12fret.com. From their you can go to their e-mail link (talk to us). Direct your question to Dave Wren one of the co-owners. You can also view new and old (vintage) stringed instruments there too.

Good luck. Let me know how you made out.

Ken

I have the heritage cherry one that is chambered Ash with a USA vintage 62 reissue neck. I also have the sunburst one, spruce top in the same model. Originally built in 2004 and I have a letter from Fender stating they only built approximately 104 of ALL those models then.

You will find the serial number stamped on the bridge plate just like an AV 52 Reissue.

Another batch of the heritage cherry finished ones and sunburst spruce topped ones surfaced in 2006 at MF and Guitar Traders respectively. I purchased my cherry sunburst spruce top one from GT at an unbelievably good buddy deal price.

GREAT guitars all the way around!

I'm getting ready to throw a set of nocaster pu'ps into my chambered ash one.

I wished I could have scored one of the butterscotch ones.

Good Score man!
