When I was a kid I didn't think they looked good.

I outgrew that.

well... no, i hate the way the pickguard just ends in a straight line by the bridge, i hate the headstock VERY much, the way the tone and volume knobs are huge... things is disgusting, and the body is dumb

i'll just stick to stratocasters right now...

I do like the Tele looks, but then again, I've been playing them for almost 40 years. I would like to see Fender offer more models with the arm and belly-cut features that are mostly only available from the aftermarket "licensed" parts suppliers. But, this is more of a comfort thing than adding style-points.

I've only been into guitars about 2 years, at first I really disliked teles. Hell I'll be honest, I wasn't a huge fan of strats either (hadn't played either you see), I liked Gibsons, SGs in particular.

Now.. I've hopped the fence. I still like SGs, but I don't think I'd ever own one. My baby is my strat. But recently I've bee really digging the tele tone wise and looks wise. Something about a beat up butterscotch tele that just looks so amazing. Its beauty is in its functionality and its simplicity.

I like SGs OK, don't have one, but like them OK. But, there's no electric guitar like a Tele. More tonal flexibility, it'll last a millenium and then some, and they're just cool. Simple, functional, timeless. I have a couple Strats, as well, but for me, it's Teles. Has been since I got my first one in 1970.

I know what you mean. when i was younger i thought it was the ugliest guitar on the planet, but as i got used to it, it started lookin better and better. Then i saw Crossroads with Ralph Machio which added to my liking of the tele. but what really made me realize the beauty of the telecaster was the John5 signiture tele. Im a huge fan of his work, and when i found out that he got that incredible tone out of a tele, i fell in love.

I think it's beautiful. From the first time my dad let me pick his up back in, oh I'd say 1978, I've thought it was the most perfect guitar in the world. I recently renewed my passion for playing the guitar and finally got up the courage to buy one. Today I recieved my Highway 1 Tele in 3-color sunburst. I was so happy I almost cried as I was prepping it for tuning. Then when tuned, I just kept running the scales. I can't believe how much easier it was compared to my Dean Les Paul copy. and boy did it sound a thousand times sweeter. Just like I remember, that sweet "TWANG" that my dad always had with his. I'd call him and let him know I got it today but he called this morning and told me his wife died last night. This was supposed to be a great day for both of us because all we have talked about the last year is guitar and my progress and this thing coming. This was a great bright spot in a day that was otherwise crushing for me.

It is one of my favorite, but the only guitar that really makes it seem bulky is my SG. i think it looks alright, it could look better but i dont know how, and it has a great sound.

Some people (mostly Strat players more accustomed to the bigger peghead) don't like the headstock. It did pre-date the Strat by a few
years, and in my opinion, looks great. And I have Teles, CBS headstock Strats, all kinds of Fender stuff. But, the Tele headstock is fine by me.
Very elegant looking. Streamlined. And very deco.
