Do you think that the Telecaster looks nice? I think it's nice, but quite bulky. What do you think? I'm open to any views and comments!

the tele is a work horse and it looks like one. to me it balances well, and isnt too cumbersome or heavey unlike say a les paul or a flying v. I love the tele

I like the look because it is time tested and rather unique. Strat and Les Paul shapes have been modified and imitated to death. From the body shape to the bridge, the Telecaster is original, unique and has a sound all its own.

the look is half the reason I bought mine, though the look varies quite a bit from model to model, from very very simple, to rather elaborate. I got a 72 thinline RI and I think its gorgeous. It also happens to sound gorgeous too.

And the more you use them, the better looking they get.

It's not as elegant as the Strat but it's got it's good sides, the Tele really reflects the time when it was designed and I like that. And as Nick Dj said it's not that imitated - when you have a Fender Telecaster, you have a Fender Telecaster!

(Well that doesn't stop from owning a Strat...)

Hello Metalhead5396,

I'd never complain about the looks of a tele.

Cheers.

I voted no, but it doesn't matter--more important is what it sounds like--and there's been some great stuff played on Teles.

However the only way I'm likely to ever own one is if somebody gives me one.

I don't find them comfortable to hold or to play.

You may--but then you have your hands and I have mine.
I find Les Pauls comfortable to sit with and a lot of people don't.
We're different sizes and shapes.

Perhaps it doesn't have all the extra features of the strat, like contours and gut cuts, but the Tele is like a hammer. It does what it does, and does it well, and doesn't need all these extra things...

I am utterly in love with this guitar. True it is not as lovely as the Gibsons and Gretsch's, or as elegantly contoured as a Strat. But I think Teles are gorgeous in their simplicity. When I walk into a shop I always check out the Tele first.

It is the perfect quitar with one, two or three pickups.
