I've got a gorgeous 60th Anniv. Fender Tele Flametop ATB bought last year, all gold hardware and it's time for a good cleaning but just not sure how to clean the gold without taking everything apart. The bridge is full of pick dust and sweat. Not to take anything away from Fender but I bought a Gibson Vintage Reissue Restoration Kit at my dealer today (no similar Fender product on the shelf) which has a a "low abrasion" metal cleaner bottle in it. Would this be safe to use? Or maybe there's a better way, soap and water :?:

Just don't want to go wrecking anything. Gold is great but so hard to clean and sure shows the mess more than silver.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I wouldn't use anything more than a soft cloth very slightly dampened with something like Windex. The gold plating is very thin and will wear away quickly enough on its own. Even a "low abrasive" cleaner will damage it.
