I bought a 2009 Am Dlx Ash Tele. I was looking at the specs on the Fender site, I know there has been some upgrades in 2010, such as N3 pups, compound radius, and tuners. it also looks like they switched to black dot fret markers as opposed to the pearl.

It says it has the no-load tone control as well, mine does not. Is that also a new feature of 2010, or has mine been altered?
(it has SCN pups and the S-1)

Nice looking Tele! The no-load tone pot has been a feature of the American Deluxe Tele since the first version came out in 1998 (your's would be from the very end of version 2's run; the 2010-spec is version 3).

Are you sure you don't have a no-load tone pot? Sometimes the detent at the end of the pot's travel is very noticable, sometimes it isn't. For example, my current 2012 Select Tele has a very noticable detent and you can really feel it click into place, but a 2007 American Series Tele I picked up in a trade deal in early 2008 (and honestly didn't keep very long) didn't have much of a detent at all. If it isn't a no-load pot then it could be that it has been modified.

The American ash deluxe didn't follow all the specs of the American deluxe. the Deluxe ash (previous to 2010) has no binding, no belly contour, and the standard neck bolt pattern rather than off-set. It followed the 52 tele in appearance a bit closer. I also have a 2004 aged cherry Am dlx tele, I'm aware that they had the no-load circuitry. It's the Am Dlx Ash I'd like the scoop on.

The Deluxe Ash Tele had the belly cut contours and top body binding before 2004.

That was my point; as far as I remember the electronics were exactly the same between the American Deluxe Ash Tele and the "regular" American Deluxe Tele - granted it's been a long while since I picked up one of these in person (probably 2008 or 2009).

It was only the body spec (no binding, back contour, or neck heel contour) and cosmetics (regular headstock decal instead of chrome) that differed between the American Deluxe Ash and the regular American Deluxe when they split them into two models with the 2004 revision.

John C, you may be correct.
After checking it out again, It may in fact have the no-load tone pot. If it does, the drop off on 10 is just so subtle as not to notice, as well as the tone difference. Just can't feel the lock in to no-load position on this one.
