Just bought this tele, and I really wanted to love it because it is beautiful but....this is the biggest piece of crap that I have ever purchased for $1800 !!!!!!!!!!!! Gloss lacquer, no nitro, what's up with that ? The rhythm pickup, the so called " wide range hum bucker" , sounds like it has a blanket over it. It is absolutely useless. The '62 lead pickup pierces your ears like there is no tomorrow...maybe due to the fact that the saddles are crap steel, IDK. The bridge itself looks like scrap metal, it is chrome plated and shiny in front of the pickup and dull and blurry behind the pickup. The string ferrules on the back of the guitar FELL OUT when I changed the strings ! The controls ? Let's go there. Both volume controls and tone controls are useless below 8, they turn everything to mud ( even more so ) and taper off drastically. The capacitors are the dark green Radio Shack style. You would think that an American guitar that retails for over $2000 would have some sort of quality control...none here ! I'll stick to buying Mexican made Fenders and modifying them, at least the Mexicans take PRIDE in their work ! In case anyone is wondering, I am not a newbie. I am 45 years old and have been playing for over 30 years and have had 60's and 70's tele's and Les Pauls so I know what the quality used to be like. Fender should be ASHAMED at this guitar !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I almost forgot, the "swamp ash body" ? Yes it is very light, and made with three very well disguised pieces of wood, again $1800 dollars should buy you at least a two piece body like the one's that Warwick sells for $175.

are we to assume that before spending such a large amount of money you didnt bother trying one out first ?

if you did, you would have noticed the sound, controls, 3 piece body, bridge quality, and finish of the guitar weren't to your liking. shame you dont like it, they do indeed look amazing. i think you'll find the humbucker sound is what it is. any amount of research would have told you that. ive got one in my '72 custom mexican RI, yeah its muddy and muffled, but i love it. you obviously dont.

to be honest, it sounds like you brought the guitar off the internet and didnt like it when it turned up. fair enough, but hardly fenders fault. other than the slightly useless controls, ferrules (which are never glued in) and the finish on the bridge, everthing else youve pointed out is personal preference.

Sorry, but I also have to question someone who has been around as long as the OP claims - and who claims to have owned '70s Fenders - and is surprised to find that a guitar that is supposed to be reflective of a 1975 instrument has a poly finish instead of nitro. Fender switched in 1968 (over the course of the year - no clear date of stopping nitro and starting poly). Same with the steel saddles - I believe Fender change from brass to steel saddles on the Tele circa 1960. At least the AV '62 and the CS '60 Tele Customs have steel saddles. I agree with moochy13 that these are preference items, but they are the way they should be for a 1975 Fender.

I understand the OPs point about the humbucker winding up muddy or the single coil winding up thin/"ice pick-y" because that always happens for me - if I get the amp dialed in the way I like it for a humbucker the single coil is going to sound shrill. If I dial the amp in for the single coil the humbucker (particularly a neck humbucker) is going to sound muddy (and likely also overpower the single coil). That's why I don't care for guitars that mix humbuckers and single coils; I love them both but I don't mix them on one guitar (besides this is a great justification for having more guitars  ). However, I would never slam a guitar has mixes humbuckers and single coils because of my preference; I realize there are at least as many folks who seek out this type of configuration as those who avoid it.

It's pretty well known that the "Wide-Range" humbuckers used today bare absolutely no resemblence to the originals. Supposedly this guy is the only person that builds reproduction pickups using CUNIFE magnets like the original:

http://www.telenator.com/

Steel saddles appeared on Teles back in the early 50's. See "The Blackguard Book" for details:

http://www.theblackguardbook.com/

Three-piece body? So what? No rule says the bodies have to be 2-piece or 1-piece. There is much debate over whether the number of body pieces really makes a difference.

Kind of have to wonder why the OP didn't immediately return the guitar if he is so unhappy with it.

I somehow doubt there will be a second post on this subject by the OP.

bluesky636...why would you "doubt" that there would not be another post ? I guess you guys are used to a bunch of punks coming on here and then running away, sorry...not my style. If any of you would have REALLY looked at what I was trying to say, it had to do with this thing RETAILING for over $2000. Yes, I did purchase it off the internet, because I live in South Louisiana right now and there isn't a dealer around that carries high end Fenders...if that is what you want to call this. I wouldn't complain about ANY of the things I posted if this guitar cost under a thousand. I would just rip it apart and replace with Lollar and Callaham parts. As for the guy who replied about the urethane finish, take a look at some of the other Tele's in the "Telebration" series ....they have NITRO finishes and cost LESS than this ! As for the wide range hum bucker, the one used in this guitar was SUPPOSED to come from the Custom Shop, not the standard one used in the sub $1000 guitars. Most of you guys are probably die hard Fender fans and it doesn't matter what they do, you will praise them ...sorry, I don't play that game. I give credit where credit is due. I don't even join forums because I find most of you guys spend more time on forums than you do actually playing and you just LOVE to come to Fenders rescue when someone posts something negative. Does anyone else here own one of these ? Probably not. As for returning it...I already have. I'd rather buy a mexican tele and upgrade it. Feel free to reply if you have something constructive to say, I'm not going anywhere for a while. As for the steel saddles, my point is that they are NOT stainless steel , they are chrome plated scrap.

FYI the Telebration 75 is not a Deluxe but a Custom. Deluxes had dual Wide Range Humbuckers and a Stratocaster large headstock.

This guitar features Jazz Bass cosmetics and an early 50's Spaghetti decal.

Actually, Fender just calls it a "75 Telecaster".

Thank you so much for correcting my mistake, and thank you for the picture, I would never have known what it looked like if you hadn't posted that.

i think you missed the point. as the tele you brought is year specific, it is totally recreated down to the spec of that year. in 1975 they weren't using nitro anymore, so that guitar doesnt have it. i guess that because other telebration guitars arent year specific, they can be constructed and finished from whatever parts they want.

and there are certainly enough people on here that dont blindly love everything fender do. me, personally i think think the bridge pickup in my '72 custom tele RI is pants, and the controls on my JA-90 thinline are a waste of time. but there we go.

Oh man, I'd love to get my hands on a pair of the Cunife Wide Range Humbuckers but $450 each! Wow! I'd love to put a pair of them into my 72 Telecaster Deluxe Re-issue but that would nearly cover the cost of buying the Guitar. :(

A couple pints of blood ought to cover the cost.

I didn't miss the point at all and you couldn't be further from the truth..."recreated down to the specific year" ???? Where on Gods earth does it say that anywhere ? Show me a '75 Telecaster that has black block inlays and Jazz Bass control knobs . They (Fender) clearly state that this guitar is INSPIRED by a '75 tele custom, hence the Jazz Bass control knobs and the block inlays. My POINT was this, the guitar is retailing for over $2000 !!! When you enter that category of guitars you are up there with Standard Les Pauls, PRS, Gretsch, etc...hell, this thing COST more than an Eric Johnson Stratocaster which is so far superior its not even funny. An EJ Strat has ALL quality components and materials and this thing is not even up to par with a mexican tele. I just played the new black paisley tele which sells for $499, and it blows this guitar away. You could buy a Lollar Regal hum bucker for $200 and a pick guard for $35 , slap it together and save $900.
