As far as stringing a Bigsby goes, I checked out their website and there's a nice link on how to do it. You need to bend the string at the end which makes the process way easier to do.

http://www.bigsby.com/vibe/resources/how-to-string/

As far as why the OP has a different instalation is because his Tele originaly had a completely different style of bridge and tail piece as well as p/ups. This is a link for a Standard Telecaster.

Bottom line is if you want a Bigsby, do your research to find out which one is right for your guitar then go for it!

Thanks, Britt. Are you saying, in other words, that his "bridge-to-nut" length
is shorter than my "pictured" Telecaster's "bridge-to-nut" length?

If so, does Fender ship Telecasters with different "bridge-to-nut" lengths?

Check out the OP's second to last picture, and my first of two pictures
and you will see what I am talking about.

They are both Fender Telecasters, though custom modified.
Should the length between the saddles and the nut
or the length between the saddles and the rear strap button be different?

Just interested and just wondering. Thanks. Toppscore :)

Yours started out with a Standard style bridge while his started out with one that resembles a bridge like one would find on a Gibson SG.

Was the OP's original bridge a Fender factory shipped bridge?
Thanks for your response.
I have lots of Strats, but that is my only Tele. Toppscore :)

my guitar was 100% original as it left the factory before i started. about the 'bridge to nut' length - the scale - it is indeed shorter than standard fender length. it is actually the same length as Gibson use, off the top of my head 24 3/4". i believe fender to use 25.5" ? so straight away my bridge is over an inch closer to the nut than yours would be.

i doubt theres many other Fenders that have a short scale like mine.

fitting the bigsby has made no difference to the scale length, as its behind the bridge. i was limited to where i could fit the bigsby by the gaping holes left in the body by the tailpiece post holes.

Hi. Do ALL "Thinline" Tele's have shorter necks/scales or is it just the Jim Adkins Teles?

No at a guess I'd say the only guitars with the shorter scale are mine and maybe a couple of other oddball or signature guitars. Thinlines are same as other teles.

No, all the other thinline Teles currently in the lineup have the regular 25.5" scale.

As far as I can remember the 24 3/4" scale Teles were the Jim Adkins and the Tele-Sonic of a few years back. There might have been a couple of oddball MIJs or perhaps some of the Squiers that also had the shorter scale. Normally if you want a shorter-scale Tele or Strat you have to go elsewhere - particularly since Fender's shorter-scale Strats and Teles tend to also have non-traditional hardware (the moochy13's Jim Adkins with it's tune-o-matic bridge and soapbar pickups, the Tele-Sonic had DeArmond pickups and a wraparound bridge, the Strat-O-Sonics had soapbars or humbuckers and chamberd bodies, etc.).

Good to know. I have eleven guitars and never thought about
their neck lengths. They are all probably normal 25.5" lengths.
I remember years ago my Fender Mustang was a bit shorter.
I know most Fender Mustang guitars and Mustang Basses are shorter, right?

Yep - Mustang guitars had a 24" scale and it seems like the basses were a shorter than normal scale as well (I've never been bitten by the bass bug so I've never really checked into their specs). The earliest "student model" Fenders - the Musicmaster and the Duo-Sonic - could be had with either a 24" scale or an even shorter 22.5" scale. I believe the 22.5" scale went away in the early 1960s. Fender seemed to standardize the 1960s "student models" - the Musicmaster, Bronco, and Mustang (and I'm probably leaving something out) with the 24" scale, which they kept until they were discontinued around 1980. I think there was a reissue of the Duo-Sonic with that really short 22.5" scale back in the 1990s or early 2000s.

Yes Yes Yes ~ Telecasters with a whammy bar are way too totally cool.
Not sure about all of the "Bigsby Tremolo Systems",
but the Fender "F" on a Fender is an AWESOME "stick shift" for that "extra high gear"

Following below is a photo of my 1960s Reissue Telecaster's Bigsby with the "F" tailpiece.

Thats awesome !! Looks great, hope it functions perfectly :D

side note, just personal opinion, I hate RotoSound strings, they sound dead very soon after installing them, D'Addario for me.

Hi! I purchased my Telecaster with Bigsby as a complete guitar
from a custom guitar builder. Not sure what his build strategy was.
