I have wanted one ever since hearing the variety of cool tones that TV Jones pups can produce. La Cabronita is way to spendy for me but the recently introduced Cabronita seems to have everything that a growing boy needs except for a tone knob. How can a guitar even be considered a serious piece of equipment without it? Does anyone know Fenders reasoning behind leaving off a tone pot?

I really love this concept of a tele, I'm awaiting my local shop to get them in to give it a demo as, like you, the lack of a tone knob is a concern. I use the tone knobs extensively on my telecasters.

I'm thinking that adding the S-1 switching like the Custom Shop La Cabs won't be that difficult, at least it would give some tonal option.

Mates,
Don't worry about the lack of a ton eknob on this little tone machine! I got mine yesterday and it is a fantastic guitar. Working the volume knob is all you need. My bass player and I were in the studio last night and he said that this shoul dbe my number 1 from now on! Of course I totally agree with him. I couldn't find a thing wrong with this guitar. It feels, looks plays and sounds perfect! Fender has really hit a grand slam with this one!

Mine came today. I bought a blondie.

Guys; ABS is absolutely correct - there is no need for a tone knob. This guitar absolutely smokes! Volume control is all you need. This is the first time I've played this configuration. It's very easy to do volume swells and switch between pickups using just your pinkie finger.

They did a great job putting this guitar together. Mine has a very nice see through grain pattern (3 piece body). Fit and finish is perfect. Nice neck - not too thin, not too thick. The Fideletrons (or whatever they are called) seem like they are just sitting, ready to get mean, and are just waiting to get turned loose. It's a different sound from a Tele. As I was playing, the best word I could come up with for them was "badass". It just seems to fit.

This is one of the better guitars I've bought in the past few years. And that's not saying anything bad against my other Telecasters - the Cabronita is just pure awesome. I'm impressed.

I'm seeing some MIM (I think) FSR Cabronitas at what seems like a great price. I'm not sure which Cabronitas others are talking about as there have been CS Cabronitas and the Tele-bration Cabronitas.

Part of the reason I bought my Telebration Cabronita is that it doesn't need a tone knob. I was skeptical at first, but it absolutely bangs! Playing with the volume knob slightly can change the sound greatly. Barely turn it down and it changes the tone completely. I love mine, in fact I've played it more lately than my Lone Star Strat & Custom Shop '62 reissue Jag. I just wish it had a Bigsby on it. I'm looking into the possibility of moding it, but am not sure what would need to be done to correctly install a Bigsby. If anyone has info on what needs to be done to get a Bigs on it without compromising the guitar, PLEASE let me know!!! I can't find anything online about it. Thanks!

Love my cabronita! I changed the bridge with an AmStd one and the guitar sounds a bit snappier now. I did it mostly because the folks at TDPRI said that the bridge aligns the strings with the pu poles, but in my case it didn't line them up. It did change the sound a little and playability improved a bit because the high e string is not as close to the edge of the fretboard anymore. Here's some pics:

String alignment with factory bridge:

After new bridge. See there's not much of a difference, I was the only one at TDPRI that didn't show a difference in string alignment. Huge bummer for me.

Here's both bridges side by side. Notice how the factory bridge is a bit wider 1/8" wider to be exact. This is why the high e is a bit too close to the edge of the fretboard.

You will run into this because the holes on the AmStd bridge are a bit closer together. But fear not, it will still screw in firmly into place.

Anyway just felt this was worth sharing. :)
