I am keen as to get a telecaster but as a left hander there are only 3 model options and of them 4 or 5 colour options. There is not one left handed telecaster with a rosewood fingerboard, a pretty standard option i would think. Most other brands have a left handed option for all of their models, but fender only make seperate models for left handers with limited range. This would be the guitar i would get if there was the option, straight away.

I have considered the jimi option but flipping a tele just wouldn't work.

Yeah, its not that they aren't stocked by anyone, its that they aren't made. I suppose there are other options there for higher prices (still only 4 or 5 colours, but they do have rosewood), but i'm still at school and ive gotta buy it myself, so i'm looking at a guitar priced under $1500.
In Australia there is less availability and the prices are higher, so really anything other than the standard of the American standard is really out of the question (unless it was that 60s classic series above, which isnt too pricey anyway).
What i am really asking is if there is any likelihood of fender expanding the left handed telecaster range in the near future, or should i just bite the bullet and get a guitar im not that happy with.
In the fender 2008 catologue there are only 9 electric guitar options for left handers, often with limitations on colour. There are so many great guitars, but they are not left handed!

I have no idea if Fender plans on making any Lefty Tele's with a rosewood fretboard or not. I'm not a Tele or Maple fretboard kind of guy. I recommend you contact Fender directly at consumerrelations@fender.com and ask them.
Another option is to buy a Lefty Tele and put on an aftermarket Tele neck with a rosewood fretboard, or make the entire guitar using aftermarket parts.

I'd guess the reason for lack of options is that there really isn't much of a market for left handed guitars. Only 11% of the population is left handed, so there's not a lot of business incentive to offer a wide variety of options.
