Hi, this is my first post, so please go easy.

I've played the guitar now for nearly 15 years and I've never really had any decent guitars, just cheap copies that I've managed to scrape enough money together for.

My wife recently bought me a 2010 MIM Standard Telecaster. I'm loving it! In comparison to my past instruments, it sounds excellent. I'm now officially in love with the Telecaster and I want to know more!

I've been reading a few other posts and notice a lot of you have some real classic telecasters that probably put mine to shame. I'm just wondering if anyone has ever used a Standard Tele and what their honest opinions of them are or any hints and tips re sound etc?

Also how do they compare against the higher spec teles and if anyone has any info on the spec of a 2010 MIM standard tele then I'd really appreciate it? I'v spotted that there are a lot of experts on this site so hopefully someone can help.

I have emailed Fender for more details on my guitar but they've only been able to confirm thats its model is a 5/2010 Standard Telecaster.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi. In my opinion, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the mexican line of Fenders.

The only reason I went for an AVRI is because of the neck. I used to frequently get hand cramps from playing the Squiers and MIM tele's I had.

Enjoy that tele.

Thank you for your reply!

I certainly love playing it. My mate has a USA tele which is excellent. It's very nice but we can't spot a massive difference in the two.

I'd like to know what difference is with the materials etc and especially the pick ups.

Congrats!

I have the MIM FSR in BSB. A real stunner.

Welcome to the Forum but you should know that you need to post pics of your guitar!
We love guitar porn!

You have to post the pictures elsewhere on the internet, and then use the Img link in the post a reply page to link to that image.

I had and American Special Strat, hated it... traded it in for a MIM Tele..2011 with 60th Anv. emblem and a hard case and some other stuff. Give me a tele any day. I also enjoying my Classic Vibe Teles. All good guitars. Enjoy it!

To post a photo on this forum your image (photo), needs to be accessible on the internet at a location that is know to you for example this location of one of my photos:

http://static.panoramio.com/photos/1920x1280/57042974.jpg

It's probably a good idea to have this forum and your new message open in one browser window and locate your image in another browser window or tab.

When you find your image copy the location from the address line in your browser (mark the text and select it for copying).

In your tab or window where your new forum message is being composed click on the "Img" box above the message and in the message body you will see two [Img] tags, paste your image location/URL between those two tags.

When you Preview or Submit your new message your image should appear.

I'll post an image below using the link that I've included above, and the code in your message should look like this below but using a link to your own image of course:

Code:

Good luck.

Thanks for the help! Much appreciated.

Iowa, cheers mate. I'm enjoying my tele no end. It's be given a good testing and is still standing, so far! I can't see myself ever moving to another make of guitar. I'm still trying to decide on which pick up is my fave, I'm swinging towards the back one at the moment. I'll probably change my mind again soon though.

Sjlen, thanks for the advice and wow, what a guitar that is. I love the red. Here's my pride, opinions welcome -

I bought a 2011 Candy Apple Red Standard Telecaster back in May. It has the 60th anniversary neckplate. It plays, sounds, and looks great. The color changes depending on how much light hits it, which is really cool. You can't tell by the pictures, but it's a deep metallic red. Here are some pictures of it in sunlight and in the shadows.
