Single coil bridge.

I know the hotrodded versions have them but what else? I'm looking for a used tele in the $1000 range. Thanks for any help!

Not a fan of the pick guard on those! I'd really like the vintage style

Here's a couple of options - some may be slightly above that $1K used range:

1. Hot Rod '52 Tele - the "Telebration" version from last year has a full-sized Duncan '59 neck humbucker. If it works for you the "regular" Hot Rod '52 Teles have a Duncan Firebird pickup in the neck position.

2. Hot Rodded American Standard Tele - made from about 1998-mid 2000 - neck humbucker in an American Standard Tele of that era. I think they used a covered Fender DH-1 humbucker but I don't have any of my old Fender catalogs any more to check on that.

3. American Series Fat Tele - made from mid-2000 until 2002, it's an American Series Tele with a neck humbucker.

4. American Series SH Tele - updated in 2003 with an uncovered Fender humbucker (no longer the DH-1 but I don't remember what it was); this model gets updated in mid-2003 with the S-1 switch to split the humbucker. Dropped in 2006.

There hasn't been a version of the current American Standards with a stock neck humbucker.

You could also find some various special "Thinskin" versions of the AV '52 with neck humbuckers (and sometimes modern radius necks).

There were three Hot-Rodded American Standard Telecasters, the US Fat Tele with the DH-1 humbucker and a special 5-way switching system allowing the humbucking pickup to be splitted for a more traditional Tele single-coil neck pickup sound, the Nashville B-Bender with a Texas Special Strat pickup in the middle and a Parsons-Green B-Bender and the Tele-Sonic, featuring a chambered mahogany body, two DeArmond Y2K P-90 soapbars, a shorter 24,75" scale length and a Tech-Tonic stop tailpiece.

The American Series Fat Tele is the same guitar except for the addition of a rolled-edge neck, sharper '52 body radius and a non-veneered alder body.

This model was offered only with a rosewood fingerboard - as opposed to the 1998 version which had both rosewood and maple as a fretboard material.
