It looks very nice to me. I noticed the larger type 70s headstock. The Fender was not in black though. It looks pretty custom. It looks pretty sweet in the picture. I'd say be cautious and, do ask lots of questions. I've never got a guitar from the internet yet! Everybody is different. I like to handle them and, hear them before I drop cash. Find out if you can return it if you're not happy with it. Good luck! It does look choice it the photo!

I suggest posting this in either the Fender CS forum or the "Ask Mike Eldred" to see if he is familiar with the builder. At any rate the ad reads to me like it is not a legit Fender; it's a guitar built from licensed parts by someone who supposedly was a Fender employee at some point - but this guitar was built after this person left Fender.

Is the logo supposed to be in black? The way I look at it, it's worth it for the parts if they are all American fender, would you say? How can I verify?

It seems a little steep to me for a Partsocaster but it is very pretty. Ask for pics of the neck pocket and the neck end. Bodies and necks like that aren't every day run-of-the-mill common. I suspect they may both be C/S pieces. It could be a mix 'n match job that was done in an attempt to hide the fact that the parts were stolen. I concur with JACSTRAT. Excercise caution.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

If it is just a partscaster but with all American parts, how much would you say it's worth? Would the neck and body be marked American!or custom shop?

Its not a Fender its a partsocaster. Looks nice though. I wouldn't spend that kinda on a partsocaster.

Now that is interesting! There's a guitar hanging at one of the local pawn shops that is a dead ringer for that guitar - right down to the heavily quilted veneer and all the engraving on all of the metal parts. I didn't even take it down, just looked at the $3K on the price tag and moved on...

Someone else on this forum actually checked this guitar out and exclaimed, "Parts-o-caster!"

I don't have an issue with these guitars as long as the seller is being honest with the buyer. Some of these Fenderlike guitars are very well made and sound great, but I wouldn't pay $3K for one unless it's hand made by a reputable luthier.

The wording in the add suggests that has been put together using Fender parts, so yes Parts-o-caster, I wouldn't pay that price, you may have some difficulty in selling it on later.

This picture looks my h better than it did in person. The parts were not original fender and was a very very poor copy. I wouldn't have bought it if he offered it to me for $100

The description in the ad reads:

This Fender Brown Sunburst (Serial # FJ088201946) was built by Fred Jackson, former custom builder for Fender. It is completely built with Genuine FENDER PARTS. This guitar is an immaculate built guitar. I took it to a reputable Guitar shop here in Nashville and they were blown away by it's accuracy to detail and workmanship. They suggested a sale price of $1500-$1700. I am selling this and several others for a friend who was married to Fred Jackson. He passed away in 2011.

Blown away by the strat headstock on a Tele? Hmmmm .....
