Hi,

This is for sale near me for £350. Guy has described it as "It has a gorgeous satin finished maple neck, which is an expensive after-market neck from ALLPARTS USA (Fender approved) - neck serial number is YAHI3262. The BAKELITE scratchplate, and cavities are fully copper lined to reduce any un-wanted noise. Also, the "string-through body" produces so much sustain and notes really ring out with fantastic clarity"

Do you think this looks legit and do you think it would be a good first tele for the money?

Thanks
Dave

i just had a look on allparts, and all their headstocks look like fender headstocks. the one youve shown doesnt :? . id stay away from it, if youre looking second hand and you can get a proper legit 100% fender made instrument for the money. even the squier classic vibe guitars are very good, possibly as good as MIM std guitars.

it does look nicely done, but at the end of the day its a bitsa guitar, and the rest of it could be anything cobbled together.

Hi Moochy thanks very much for your reply. I just don't know what to do :

I really want the "strat chime"....but I'm kinda broke.

I'm very tempted by the vintage modified 70's squier but put off by the fact that a lot of people are saying "squier=cheap crap / beginners guitar". I COULD just about afford a basic MIM strat but it leaves me totally broke.

Hmmmm....what to do....

anybody telling you squier = cheap crap has got their head up their arse.

also why are you looking at teles if you want strat chime ?

yes squier do very cheap guitars that arent up to much, but the classic vibe line are top of the squier tree, and possibly on a par with the MIM stds. some people will tell you they definitely are.

the fender modern player series is also very good for the money, and sits between squier and MIM std's. ive played a couple of modern player teles, and my friend brought the tele bass. they were all very decent in their own right, regardless of price, which is very good. the only strat they do is a HSS though.

look second hand, i wouldnt be paying more than 300 quid for a used MIM std. either way, its best to play them first. quality wise, if you buy sight unseen, i guess you'd have a bit more comfort in ordering a MIM, but you can always return anything that is faulty.

if i had 350 quid, id be looking at squier CV strats, and used MIM std strats. i have no experience of the 'modified series' you mentioned, they do look interesting though.

Not legit. Would not spend the money on this. Keep saving your money for a good guitar...
