The third string on my Mex Standard Tele resonates behind the nut when I play the open string - the other five strings are fine. This produces a high pitched tone - you can feel the string vibrating behind the nut if you touch it lightly. I had the same problem with a Blacktop Tele and gave up on that one, swopping it for my present guitar (which was fine at first!)

Any answers? (Apart from a bit of sponge rubber to deaden the resonance)

Not slot not cut properly or not enough downward pressure on the string behind the nut. get eh nut recut or add a second string tree:

Thanks - I'll try the 'new nut' route first!
