Yeah but only temporarily until the wife hasn't noticed any new guitars for a while. But Hell yeah, it was worth it.

OK guys, I've broken down and traded the Tele. I really couldn't help it and I couldn't pass up the opportunity. I traded the Tele and an original Dobro brand square neck dobro for a 2008 Fender Custom Shop Eric Clapton Signature Strat in Antigua. It's only one of 100 made and will certainly be a real collectors item. I'll eventually shell out for another tele but I won't trade that prize strat!! :D

And when you do, as long as you're not a staunch advocate of 'more expensive is definitely better/ you get what you pay for' check this one out: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/TeleCV50BB
There are loads of rave, professional reviews on YouTube and I've yet to see a negative one. It's the least expensive guitar I own, but it's tone is to die for! And for a small amount, you can change out the stock 3 position switch for a 4 position one, retaining the same 3 stock tones, and adding a 'humbucker' sound by putting the pups in series for the 4th position.

That's funny because my son just bought that exact guitar in butterscotch. I love them. And you're right, more expensive is not necessarily better but I've spent years and years upgrading my collection to guitars I once could only dream of. I have some really expensive acoustics but I also have one that I got for just a few hundred bucks that may not sound like the $5000 ones but sure plays as good.
