Can some one please explain why the Baja Tele with S-1switch, 4-way switch & Twisted Tele Pick-up sells for around $800 and the Custom Classic with the same pick-up and just a 4 way switch sells for well over $2000. I know one is made in the USA and one in Mexico but what else??

Question: Dollar for dollar which would you buy? :?: :?: :?:

I own a Cusftom Classic. I like the reverse switch plate. Three colour sunburst, rosewood fingerboard and 'C' neck. Similar to my avatar pictured above my name, but with a reverse switch plate. It's well appointed as well. I know nothing of the the Baja Tele, but I love my guitar. Priced at $2600.00, now. I paid about $2150.00 2 years ago.

Got a Baje Tele and it's great. Well build, good pu's and plays as smooth
as butter. Same price as the Classic MIM series but twice the value imo.

The parts are all the same, made in America. The difference is The pesos vs. the dollar. And assemblage in Mexico. I love my mexican Norte Americanos. Of course, this advantage may not last with the drop in value of the dollar. I have a players' classic Baja, I don't notice any drop in quality in my NAFTAguitar.

The custom shop has tighter tolerances with regards to the quality of wood, assembly and setup and inspection of the instrument. Doesn't mean it's always better, just more consistent when it comes out of the shop. Aside from that, you're paying for the American labor, Custom Shop name and the fancy case. Dollar for dollar the Baja Tele is a much better buy, no doubt about that.

This is a Zombie post. But I wish they would allow the assenbly of those notoriously expensive La Cabronita models in Mexico so I could afford one. The Baja is basically assembled in Mexico with parts designed by the Custom Shop. Why can't they carry this concept further to approve building La Cabronitas in Mexico?
