hi there. a question.
i bought a mexican tele (02 model) and it has a flame maple neck. the body is midnight wine in colour. a lot of musicians have said to me that theyve never seen a fender tele, mexican or otherwise with a flame maple neck. is it a genuine model or could it be a fake? or am i just lucky enough to get such a nice neck?
Thanks :?

Maybe the body had a flame maple top and the neck is simply a maple neck?
Post some pictures.

It's certainly possible to find a flamey neck at all levels. I've seen Squiers with great looking necks, and of course the Custom Shop produces many instruments with figured necks.

A pic would be nice! :)

While we DO specifically make some guitars with Flame maple necks as well as birds-eye etc.....it is lucky indeed and somewhat unusual to get a production guitar with excellent figuring, as most are "plain grain". Sooooo...sounds like...... good for you!!

Best regards,
rob

The neck and fret board are the same piece of wood (i can't see a join anywhere), the pattern goes right through. :D

To post a photo on this forum your image (photo), needs to be accessible on the internet at a location that is know to you for example this location of one of my photos:

http://static.panoramio.com/photos/1920x1280/57042974.jpg

It's probably a good idea to have this forum and your new message open in one browser window and locate your image in another browser window or tab.

When you find your image copy the location from the address line in your browser (mark the text and select it for copying).

In your tab or window where your new forum message is being composed click on the "Img" box above the message and in the message body you will see two [Img] tags, paste your image location/URL between those two tags.

When you Preview or Submit your new message your image should appear.

I'll post an image below, you could click on the quote button in this message and view the message code to see what it should look like when you are posting an image:

Good luck.
