It has happened to me twice this year. I went to Guitar Center to check out Strats (a Custom Shop '56 Light Relic this time) but ended up falling for a Tele. It was a Tele-bration Lite Rosewood this time.

It has a spruce body with a rosewood top and back for weight relief, Custom '62 pickups, American Standard staggered tuners and vintage tone control. Throw in a nice G&G American Vintage style case and it was a trade I couldn't resist making.

Beautiful! How is the weight on it?

Back in the day, Fender sent a Rosewood tele to Elvis that he sent back saying no thanks, it weighed a ton. Looked beautiful though.

It's remarkably light and comfortable to play. I owned an American Deluxe Ash Tele that was heavier. It's not much heavier than my American Standard.

Congrats on the new tele. It looks great, I'd love one of them. I have the lamboo tele-bration which also looks good.

Thanks to everyone for your kind comments.

All the 2011 Tele-Bration models gave me GAS attacks but the two that jumped out the most were the Cabronita and the Lite Rosewood. I did find a Black Cabronita but it had a nasty scratch in its finish. Then the Lite Rosewood appeared in the locked display case in the Fender Room of my favorite Guitar Center the day after I watched a YouTube video of the Beatles rooftop concert. I took it as a sign that It was meant to be mine. :)

Looks great.

I liked the Telebration series alot, I have the white modern thinline. The lamboo and empress in vintage white would be high on my wants list. The only thing that stopped me from buying the lite rosewood was the maple headstock i think they should have coloured it the same as the body aka george harrisons tele.

Enjoy your new axe!!!!!!!!

+1

That Tele is dying to have a matching dark headstock! With the rosewood neck, that maple headstock just has too much contrast.

But it is a very sweet guitar...

Yeah, I'm not normally a matching headstock kind of guy but I would have definitely made an exception this time.

I'm glad Fender kept the weight down by using a spruce body with rosewood on the top and back. I have also always GASed for an AVRI '62 Custom Tele and the Lite Rosewood has the '62 Custom pickups along with modern specs like a 9.5 fretboard radius.

It's good to have a 60s style Tele in the herd again, particularly one as nice as this. It has been a Tele-Bration, indeed.

Your Rosewood Tele is gorgeous. Looks very similar to my mahogany Tele.

Man, that's one beautiful Tele, torresfan. Congrats!

It's a good thing Tele-Brations don't happen that often. GAS for a dozen Telecasters is a dangerous thing.

I have looked at this pic about 4 times now, and gotten sooooo much gas each time I have to close the browser. Congrats! I absolutely LOVE the fact that this guitar doesn't have a rosewood veneer on the headstock.
