I played a B.C. Rich electric guitar once before. I'm not sure what exact pickups they were, but they were passive humbuckers. It had a pretty bright but great crunchy aggressive sound. They're excellent for metal. I'm sure that passive humbuckers would look and sound great in your Telecaster. I own an Ibanez RGA42FM with active humbuckers and it sounds a little bit flat. I think that passive humbuckers are the way to go.

I would suggest DiMarzio pickups. Particularly, either a Super Distortion or D Activator X for the bridge and a PAF Pro in the neck. Very high output, all passive! Before you upgrade the pups you may want to check and see if an upgrade to 500k pots would be in order.

I would recommend you first try the classic buckers for the bridge: SD JB and DMZ Super Distortion and go from there. Then put a SD Jazz or Alnico II Pro in the neck.

I have 500k pots in my LP. It gives the pups a little more bit and sharpness. Makes your tone and volume more responsive.
