Has anyone tried the TusqXL Fender Style Slot Nut's? They are the ones with the Teflon.
I ordered some for my strat and tele. My friend has a roller nut for a tele he said he can install for me. But I am weary about using a router on my new tele..

I'm quite sure the OP knew what he was typing and intended it as such.

+1 -- all things in moderation -- excellent question, hilarious opening.

I'm ah gonna fiddle with my nuts alllll night tonight!

my favs are steel or bone nuts for tone (FR/fixed or vintage respectively), and...I'm learning to like the teflon nutz on the Brawley guitars I'm wrokin' on!

I went from light to heavy strings on a Brawley and the teflon nutz carved out easily from side to side with some Nut Sauce and lots of whammying without incident, whew! They were a bit sticky at first but are smooth as silk now!

Which Fender guitars are the TusqXL nuts stock on?

First, I suggest you NOT allow your friend to touch your guitar unless he has installed a new nut on many, many guitars. If he screws up, you will need to spend a heck of a lot of money to get a proper repair.

When I read about a router, it scared the bejeeezus out of me. You will be better off taking it to a competent repair shop and having them do the work.

Please trust me on this.

Second, I am partial to bone or Ivory. The repair shop will have bone and possibly some Walrus and/or Mammoth Ivory to choose from. I am not a fan of the Tusq/teflon stuff but use whatever floats yer boat.

Nut material makes next to no difference at all on the sound of the guitar. Reason being the majority of what we play is fretted. The nut isn't even part of the strings talk length as soon as you fret a note.

As for a roller nut on a Tele, why? The roller nut was designed to be used with a tremolo system. Would you put a roller nut on a Les Paul? Your Tele will get about as much benefit from a roller nut as a trombone would.

Stick with tusq. It's long lasting, easy to work with. Offers excellent stability because it's so easy to cut the nut slots smooth and clean.
Not to blow my own trumpet, I've cut well over 200 nuts and designed my own compensated shelf nut system. The only reason I use bone is because it's free. If I could get tusq at that price, it's what I'd use, every day of the week. Bone is harder to cut, less durable. It can fail at any time. There is no guarantee with the consistency of bone. You can be cutting through the super dense stuff you want. Hit a soft part and completely wreck hours of work. The same way you can put a new string on, tune it up, as soon as it hits pitch it finally pushes through that last remaining bit of tough bone into softer bone. Then it plummets to the fretboard and leaves you with a guitar needing a new nut.
Horrible stuff.

I honestly don't have a picture of that guitar. I've never even seen it in the flesh.
