I have a Squier tele Custom (2 humbuckers) which gets a killer tone. It has its own sound aside from a LP and especially a Strat. If I could afford a LP I would have one, but I have more sense than money. LP's sound good, but the sound does not justify the price IMO. I also have a Standard Strat which is also great but for different reasons.

I haven't voted on the poll, I feel it's a question that would be near impossible to answer. I had a Fender Strat up until a few months ago, I loved her to bits. But... I ended up trading her against a LP Studio. Did I regret it? Yes and No :D I love the LP, it gives me a lot of joy. I also have a LP Melody Maker, double pick up model. And I tell you what, she can scream! But she can also be very melodic, a great little guitar. But yesterday I went out and bought myself my first Fender Telecaster, it's not top of the range by any means. But I LOVE this guitar, words can't express at this moment. No doubt in a month or two, I will be better placed to give comparisons. In the meantime I'm going to enjoy this baby, she looks and sounds the part 8)

absolutely tele's, strats are awesome and so are les pauls, tele's are so versatile, i my self own a japanese copy, with the priginal 52 usa pickups in, it rocks, through a fender hot rod, with some pedals you can get strat and gibson sounds,
definitely check out tele's if your looking to upgrade.

The correct answer IS...All are GREAT. All are different AND ALL ARE BUILT to PLAY...ITS what YOU like. Feel, sound and style. SPEND THE MONEY.

Cannot go wrong with any....buy all 3.

(Gretsch has its own sound and feel also....)

I have a few Different guitars...i always believed that a GREAT guitar player can make anything sound good ...BUT i also believe if you want a Les paul sound Get a LP ............if you want a Tele sound Get a Tele ...etc....so what i did was got a LP ....a couple of Teles ...An Esquire ...and i use my Albert Lee Sig Musicman for my Strat sound ..and i have a Musicman Axis Super sport with a couple of Humbuckers for that VH 80's rock tone....and now i have all the bases covered...in fact one of my buddies was recording the other day and left the studio came to my place grabbed the Lester and did the solo with it ..just because he wanted "that " sound.....true versatility means a guitar with multiple PUPS and configurations i like simple .....95% of the time,a Tele gets it done for me...but i am prepared for the other 5% hahahaha

I have both Strats & Teles. Never really got into the Les Paul thing.
Once you're familiar with getting the tone you're after out of the guitars you play the most, it's a familiarirty thing. But, to me, the Tele is more versatile. It has a more complete palette of tones from the way those two pickups are wired than the Strat does with 3. Of course, there is a very specific Strat tone in those 2 & 4 switch stops that can't be duplicated in many other guitars. But for straight-up rock, jazz or blues, I'll go with
the Tele.

that seems like purposefully incindiery comment when put on the Tele forum. I have been a bit puzzled at the amount of people on this forum who post they don't like tele's and are strat enthusiasts. Nothing wrong with it, just odd that you'd cruise the telecaster forum if you dislike them. What is the point?

It's really kinda silly, I agree. This is the wrong place for "Mine's better than yours." He should hang-out at the LesPaul forum.

i never said i didn't, its just that the strat and les paul are A LOT better, but if someone offered to give me a tele, i wouldn't say no...

It's a matter fo personal taste. I've had Les Pauls, sold them. INow, its Strats and Teles. And I just happen to gravitate to the Tele. Just a personal preference, I guess. But, they're all good, really.

I like the tele a very small amount more than the strat. I love the tone and presence of the tele, but it's rare to find a whammy bar on one. the opposite of course with the strat. it all depends on the style and song your playing.
