I think that teles are more versitile than strats and have a better sound than les paul's. Don't get me wrong strats and LP s are cool but the tele structure and simplicity beat the heavy LP or the funky strat anyday.

Let me know what you think.

PEACE!!! :D

Personally I don't care for Telecasters, but I do like Strats and LP's

I love the sustain and the fat humbucker sound on the les paul, but I dislike the price. Ok, maybe a gibson LP studio is a good deal, but c'mon, U can get a Tokai Love Rock for less money and it's way better than the gibson LP studio.

I'd go for an American Tele or a Strat over an American Gibson Les Paul any day just for the value alone. They're more reasonably priced. Plus, I don't think there's an appreciable sustain difference. Let's face it, you choose your guitar mainly for playability in terms of reliability, quality, comfort and looks than for tone -- and you get your most preferred tone mainly from your choice of amplifier and effects. In my case, I prefer American Teles for the brightness (which I also thinks works just as well with hard rock, punk and metal as it does for country music), the "classic" body style, the necks, the head stocks, the value and light weight.

Teles are better than strats or LPs because you put the poll in the tele forum. If you put it in the strat forum, strats would be first, and if you put it over in the Gibson LP forums you'd get laughed at and flamed for even posing the question. that much said, my #1 electric is my Am Dlx strat, my #2 is my 61 RI SG, my #3 is my Am Dlx tele and the LP and everything else ties for 4th.

Yeah, I guess anyone who pays $2,500 to $10,000 for a heavy Gibson LP would defend their choice pretty aggressively compared to a guy who's very happy with the tone of his $1,500 Fender American Deluxe Telecaster. :D

I have a Epi Les Paul the plays real easy sounds great and cost 500.00.
I have a Clapton Strat that doesn't play as easy due to it's longer scale; but sounds great as well just different; it went for 1100 when I aquired it.
Ditto for the GC anniversay Tele I have although it seems to have less string tension than the strat; why I don't know. The tele cost me 1409.00
With effects I'm not sure it matters what is holding the strings down and providing a neck to play on do for tone. IMHO if you axe sounds like junk to start with you're in trouble; but then effects can hide a lot of that. But what happens when you play straight through with no effects? The axe that was great to start with remains so.

The Strat, Tele and LP are DIFFERENT guitars. Each has it's unique voice,
no one is BETTER then the other.

FWIW I paid less for my Studio LP than I did for my tele. Gibson started weight relieving LPs a couple years ago and my 2006 LP weighs less at 7.7 lbs than my '05 tele (9.2 lbs) or my '04 strat (10.1 lbs).

each is a different tool .. to me , nothing sounds better than a lp thru a dimed tube amp .. eL34s , 6L6s , 6v6s , eL84s , doesn't matter . close second is the strat (my response today , tomorrow may be different ) . i have an EC strat , a Muddy Waters tele , a mij epi LP jr w/lollar p-90 , and a korean 'less ' paul w/burstbuckers I and II , aluminum tail piece w/tone pros studs .. a green board blues jr w/torres tube set and a ceramic hempcone tone tubby . also a blackheart 5 watt head , 10" peavey cab w/ p10r jensen for late night fun .. for spice , a sparkle drive and a 70's tokai compressor ..... sorry but I'll have to go with the lp ..... is the strat more versatile ? undoubtedly !!!!!!!!! but that wasn't the question ....................

I love 'em all, especially since I have a Les Paul. I love the telecaster because it sounds great, but you can't beat a Strat when it comes down to the original Fender classic sound.

user "Fender Strat" picked the Les Paul?

I did too, but that's what I prefer--it doesn't mean I don't like other guitars.
I'm not big on Teles because I find them uncomfortable--but it doesn't mean I don't enjoy listening to people play them.

It doesn't mean I wouldn't want a Strat.

But if I had to pick--Les Paul.

I've had all three, the strat is the only one I've kept. They all have their own unique traits.
