Rob Schwarz has clearly explained Fender's position on this issue and stated for the record that Fender will only replace the defective body, not refinish it. End of story. As there would seem to be nothing left to say on this issue, the moderator should just lock the thread.

The time to try to renegotiate the warranty is at the time of purchase. Considering that the guitar is 7 years old the only curious thing about Fender's response is that they are considering this a warranty issue at all. The OP should feel fortunate, not hard-done-by.

And, Mac Avelli, it is bad form to submit this kind of post, ask for suggestions, then ridicule those who disagree with your seriously inflated sense of entitlement.
