This question is for the guitar wiring experts out there. Yeah. You know who you are.

Anyway, my question is: How can I get the following pickup/tone control selections? Can it be done with a standard 3-way switch? 4-way? 5-way? 5-way Superswitch?

1. Neck/no tone
2. Neck and bridge/no tone
3. Bridge/tone

TIA.

I'm sure you can , probably a standard 3 way switch will work. You have to draw wiring with a switch to see if it do the job.
If not another switch will do , Super Switch can do almost anything IMO, but you probably don't need this expensive switch.

As you know , you have to choose if you want the tone or not by adding a short wire on the proper switch's contact.
You can choose between few option . Look a t a Strat wiring , you see those short wire going ( or not) to tone potentiometer. This give you an idea.

Or you looking to the final wiring diagram ?

Thanks ST52.I can build/troubleshoot an amp, but I am totally clueless when it comes to a Fender 3-way/5-way switch. I'll trace the switch out and see if your drawing works.

It is so difficult that I do a mistake . My wiring is wrong . It is easy to see that both pickups are working all the time and this is only the first error.

Sorry bluesky , I hope you did not start new winring.......

This is 2 new sketchs, The first one is original tele wiring and the second one is an easy mod to remove tone from the neck pickup. Tone will work only on bridge and bridge/neck PU.

This is the contacts array on 3 position telecaster switch . This could help understanding my sketch in previous post.

bluesky , I think you'll need a 5 position swith to do what you want . I have to study that more.

Hi, ST52.

No, I haven't done anything yet. I think you are right about needing a 5-way switch. I'm thinking the easy way may just be to put a no-load pot in for the regular tone pot and that would give me several combinations without changing the switch.

Yes no load pot is a good idea . It won't change your tone without changing switch.
