G'day Ya'll,

I am curious if there has ever been a Don RICH tribute Tele like this one at all?

Don Rich used primarily Fender guitars and amps. In the early days, Don would play Buck's ’51 Telecaster through a Bassman amplifier. In 1964, Fender gave Buck Owens an endorsement deal and the band gained instruments. Don received a Telecaster that had both its body and headstock finished in champagne metal flake in addition to having checkerboard binding on both sides of the guitar's body. The band received Fender amplifiers as well, so Don played through a Twin Reverb amplifier.

Buck and Don received new guitars in 1966, a pair of Silver Flake Telecasters that were double bound in plain black. Also around 1966, Buck had Bakersfield guitar repairman/technician Gene Moles finish another set of guitars in Red White and Blue. Fender would also give Don a Gold Sparkle Tele in the late 60's that was bound in plain black. It had no finish on the headstock.

Fender's deal with most of their artists was that they would exchange their instruments for new ones every 7 years or so. Buck refused to return the instruments given to them by Fender, so Fender stopped giving them instruments. Gibson picked up on this and in the early 70's they struck up a deal with Buck. Don received an ES-335 as well as a Les Paul Professional model.

Buck and Don would later go back to playing their Red, White and Blue Telecasters.

There were some Red, White and Blue Buck Owens Teles issued by Fender. I don't think that there's ever been a "Don Rich" model by Fender.

Something like that would have to be authorized by his estate (survivors). As influential of a Tele player that he was, I'm suprised that there was never a signature model produced.

There are a few builders that specialize in the sparkle Teles, but I think Fender has done only the R,W&B Buck model. The Custom Shop would probably make one so you would have a true Fender Sparkle Tele.

The Custom Shop did make a pair of tele replicas for Buck Owens...a gold sparkle one and a silver sparkle one. Don't remember exactly when but seems like it was mid 90's. Not sure what happened to them...but cool looking guitars just the same.

I always liked the Red,White, and Blue Telecasters you saw on Hee Haw. That would be a cool one to have!

These Japanese-made tricolored Teles date from circa 1996/1997. They came with gold hardware, matching headstock and two Texas Special pickups.

There were several variations of this guitar, one of which had the body finished in American flag graphics, lacked off the pickguard and sported a bound rosewood fingerboard with mother-of-pearl dots and chrome hardware.

The one's I remember were red, white, and blue and the Buckaroo's had matching instruments. I DVR'ed three episode's of Hee Haw to study the colors and they don't have the gear with the silver metalflake.

The American Flag Tele uses Vintage Noiseless pickups. Guitar is not mine, I think it's a Buckaroo-inspired twangbanger.

But, does anyone know what this Tele/Mosely/Moles/Ric guitar in this video is?

For some reason, I want one to go along with the silver sparkle Tele I also want...
