I have had this guitar for two weeks and tonight while playing the guitar the B and E strings got to sounding flat. They sound as if they are rattling and just do not sound clear and crisp. The American Special has the Vintage bridge with the brass saddles. Could this be causing my problem? :?: I did change the B string with a new one and tuned it. The string still sounds tinny.

dude, try to intonate properly your guitar, or if that doesn`t work, maybe better check your amp or cable....try to stretch your b and e string before playing it to warm up the strings.

Do you acutally mean that the strings are going out of tune or that they don't sound as bright as they did?

The strings seem to detune and not be as bright as before. I did take it to the music shop and their service man checked it and said that the neck probably had moved due to the climate change. He plugged the guitar into a twin reverb and it sounded perfect. I brought the guitart back home and plugged it into my blues junior and it also sounded perfect. Go figure.
