Hi all, I am an acoustic guitarist but have just purchased an electric guitar that was advertised as an American Nashville Deluxe. The number on the headstock is Z8170725, it has the strat middle pickup but a user on another forum said that there were no American Nashvilles (except B benders) that were made in 2008 as the serial number suggests. I'm hoping someone can id the guitar from the number. Being a newbie to electrics I'm hoping I haven't bought a hybrid built from different guitars.

thanks, ingade.

Hi

Please post some pics so members can see what you are talking about. This will help to identify the model of your guitar. One thing to note a 2008 serial number can be on a guitar that was made in 2009.

A very rough guide is that serial numbers can run from one year into the next. They tend to change around june each year. For example you can get a 2011 serial number on a 2012 made guitar.

Hi Rob and Ukraider,

many thanks for the help. Obviously I have bought something that wasn't the guitar the seller claimed it was. I am now in the process of trying to get my money back.
I'm really grateful to the two of you.

Best wishes, ingade.

Hi Rob, many thanks for your reply concerning my guitar. I hope you don't mind but the seller is arguing about his original description of this guitar. He originally described it as a "Nashville Tele 2008 made in the corona plant california".
Hope you can answer the following questions

Can you tell me if there were any "Nashville Tele's" made in the Corona plant in 2008.

Also do you think that a guitar made up by joining a Highway 1 Telecaster neck and a Nashville body (origin unknown) together could be described as a "Fender Telecaster Nashville USA" and also as a "Nashville Tele 2008 made in the corona plant california"

Hope you can help. A posting of your reply on the lounge forum would really help my case.

Regards, ingade.

Hi Ingade,

First let me say that its difficult at best to identify/authenticate a guitar with certainty without having it. The information I posted above is according to the serial number tracking that is available to me. While I won't claim that tracking to be 100% accurate (mainly because real people with real fingers that really slip occasionally are involved), I will say that I believe that tracking information to be about 99% correct. So, taking the possibility of counterfeiting the serial number out of the question....chances are very very good that the neck is a Hwy1 Tele neck.
My information on Nashville Teles matches the info the other forum suggests. I pulled my Frontline 2008 catalog and there are 2 Nashville Tele models made in Mexico and indeed the Nashville B-Bender in the US in that year. I believe that this is also true in this year's catalog.
I kinda enjoyed your last question , though i suppose its kinda serious really.
I guess that someone could describe parts from two (or more) guitars as whatever they can concieve.....that doesnt make it correct....and it certainly isnt official.
Though its a Corona made neck.....its made to the Hwy 1 Specs. Its a Hwy1 Neck.
There's no Nashville about it.
Just my personal observation is if someone is claiming something to be a particular thing...they should be ready to provide backup to support that claim. Could be hang tags, an original receipt, etc etc. I saw a guitar recently that purported to be the Proto for the 83 Elite Series Strats.....but it was pretty far removed from those models in every way. Hey...never say never....but show me something that lends some credence to the story.
Hope that helps a little.
Best regards,
rob

Those are called "Partscasters". They are made of random parts which may or may not be authentic Fender parts. In such a case, they are worth less than the sum of their parts.

Hi all,

This is the sellers’ pictures of the guitar that was described as a "Fender Telecaster Nashville USA" and as a "Nashville Tele 2008 made in the corona plant California"

As mentioned above the neck belonged to a Highway 1 Telecaster not a Nashville.
Having looked in the 2008 catalogue I can now see that the body does not match up to a B bender American Nashville Tele as it does not have the extra b string hole in the body. According to the catalogue, and Rob’s previous statement, the B Bender was the only ‘American’ Nashville Tele produced in 2008. I have to guess that even if the rest of the body actually came from a 2008 Nashville it would have to be Mexican made and not made in the USA at the Carona plant. I would be interested in the views of the Fender administrator of this site.

Thanks, ingade.

Looks like a deluxe Nashville body with a highway one neck and a American standard neck plate...partscaster....does the microtilt even work (the little hole at the bottom of the neck plate is for the Allen wrench to adjust it)? Be the first thing I'd look at, if the wrench doesn't insert and engage the adjustment screw, its an obvious fake. How much did you pay for it?

Hi Ingade,
Always hard to be absolutely sure without holding the guitar, but....as stated above, my best information is that the neck is a Hwy 1 which alone takes it out of the realm of calling it a Nashville anything.
I'm gonna stick with what I stated in my previous reply.
Best regards,
rob

Hi to all who posted

Thanks for the information. To 'themac5150' I paid 520 UK pounds for this guitar with the case, the microtilt goes nowhere, it has the wood of the body showing through the micotilt hole. I had faith in the sellers description. Obviously it's worth a lot less.

Many thanks to Rob and all who have helped.

Sorry to hear that. If my exchange calculator is correct, a new MIM Nashville deluxe runs around $370 UK, that's assuming its not marked up for shipping and such, the case around $55 UK. Just curious, how does it play and sound? Are you able to return it and get your money back, or have you decided to keep it?
