soon as i get the cash together, a new gutar is on the horizon and at the moment its going to be one of these JA-90 thinlines with the natural finish. ive already spoke with one forum member about his, and he didnt have a bad word to say about it. just wondering if anybody else has any experience of it. a friend who works in a guitar shop said they got some in when they first came out, and they sold all of them almost instantly, and the pick-ups were very hot and rorty and "ball tingling"

cheers

no personal experience of the particular model, but i've never heard a bad word about them either. Plus the pickups are definitely good uns and it'll play like any other tele.
So logically it seems like a winner huh.

You know I was thinking about one of these too... until I played one of these...

Every thing about this guitar screams quality... the tone, finish, wood, electronics, pickups, wiring, neck, and the tone....

This is a great instrument without too many flaws at a very affordable price. The pickups are gritty but can be backed off to get a bright, clean sound as opposed to other PUPS, noticeably humbuckers, that really sound dull once you back off the volume.

I just got mine a month ago and the first thing on the list is to have the nut re-grooved. The slots are way too elevated from the neck which is causing intonation problems in which the string must be pressed relatively far before contacting the first fret. I also have an issue with the bridge studs and how the screw-in posts seem pretty loose due to poor thread tolerances. There's a bit of play, but the strings seem to hold things good and tight. However, I just bought and installed a Bigsby B5 with a Vibramate and it will be mandatory to replace the standard bridge with a roller bridge to help with tuning issues. The aforementioned bridge has way too much give back and forth (due to the wobbly posts) when decompressing the strings, affecting the tuning when the lever is returned to position. However, it looks killer and sounds fantastic.

The fit and finish rate 5 stars. I have the wine color and my jamming pals are envious.

If you're interested, I'd definitely check it out. It's a keeper for me.

One last thing. It's one of the few Fender's that is a 24 3/4" scale, perfect for my smallish hands. And did I say the Seymour-Duncan P-90s rock!?

Thanks for your reply. I was also thinking of fitting a bigsby to it, as thinlines with bigsbys are just mega looking. I shall no doubt be picking your brain about that when the time comes. Thanks
