Hi,
I've just bought a "special edition american standard telecaster". It was manufactured in 2000, as far as I can guess from Fender's on-line listings. This is a wonderful guitar, very nice neck, great sounding and gorgeous looking (very nice sunburst).
But what is the two-piece pody body made of ?
It's flamed. I mean not just the top of it, the whole body is flamed. One would think of maple, but has Fender already used maple for solid-bodies ?
You can see the model in famous dealer and musician Greg's hands on this video :

Thanks in advance for your help.
André

Most likely maple. Guitar companies don't generally use a solid piece of maple for guitars. When maple is used, it's a vaneer.

There was a Telebration American Standard having a flame maple cap over alder, American Standard pickups, lacquer finish, gold hardware and "Elite" pearl tuner buttons. Discontinued since January 1st, 2012.
