Just wow - very cool guitar!

I suggest getting an appraisal from some place like Gruhn's in Nashville or some other large vintage dealer - I don't know where you're located but there are several other good ones around. I do know that Gruhn's will do a photo appraisal; the fees are on their website.

I did see a late 60s Esquire Custom with a rosewood board at the vintage shop in Louisville, KY (Guitar Emporium - they would also be a good source for an appraisal) back in 2010 that if I'm remembering correctly was listed at something like $8,700. It had been played more and was more worn (I would have called it a "mild relic" while the one you're helping with is definitely a "closet classic"). Also I don't know if the price was higher because it was an Esquire, but then again the one you're looking at has a maple cap - both are somewhat more rare than a "typical" rosewood board Tele Custom.

Take some good pictures, not with your mobile phone. Disassemble the guitar, take pics of the neck heel, front and back. Take pics of the electronics, scratchplate, body cavities and every detail there is. Look out for signatures, marks, irregularities. Do not use your mobile phone for this. Make sure every picture is focussed, balanced and well lighted. Not like the one you posted

I'm quite sure that with proper pics, you'll get all the help you need from this forum.

Cheers

David

With all due respect. Do not trust a forum to give you the info you need. Call Gruhn's or Norm's rare guitars.
