Right as i said,i need an answer really quickly.I have just sold a 2004 USA Fender Telecaster on Ebay.Guy who bought it is saying it is 'not' a USA model, why? He says there are two string trees on the headstock and there should be two height adjustment screws on the neck pickup.I instantly checked for pics all over the internet and sent him dozens of pics of Scratchpltes 'wothout' screws for height adjustment,i also found a few pics of USA models with two string trees! He is also saying something about the truss rod but is unable to verify this due to the pic i sent, here are some pics,is it a USA one? Thanks!

Sorry but it is a fake. Here are the issues I spotted of the bat:

1. The tuners are wrong for a 2004 American Series Fender - these appear to have a round case while USA Fenders use Fender/Schallers that look like a "rounded-corner" rectangle with a "Fender" script on them. They should also have staggered height posts.

2. The string trees are the wrong - these are butterfly string trees and they should be roller string trees. Also by 2004 there should only be one string tree on the American Series since they used the staggered height posts.

3. The headstock decal is a bit off - an American Series will have the Telecaster portion of the logo in quotation marks - they really do read: "Telecaster".

4. The truss rod access plug appears to be black plastic; American Series would have a walnut plug.

5. There is no micro-tilt hole on the neck plate (it would be centered on the neck plate slightly above the two lower neck bolts)

6. Now this is hard to tell from your photots but the intonation adjustment screws on the bridge appear to be centered in the saddles. On an American Series they would be offset to the left side of the saddle.

I have to admit that is one of the better forgeries I've seen - you really have to look closely to see that it is a fake. Usually the headstock and serial number decals are a dead giveaway - these are pretty darn close to the real thing.

I agree with it being a fake. All of the things that John pointed out and also the 12th fret markers are wrong. Don't buy or sell as MIA!

Totally agree. It's a fake. The only thing that that might give it the impression that it's an '04 Am. Series Tele is the neck plate and the S/N, but even they don't look correct.
