For me, Nothing beats a nice nashville Tele with bigsby. Saw one on eBay but I don't have any cash to buy it. :(

My favorite isn't on the list! The FAT TELECASTER! The neck humbucker-single coil bridge variety of Fat Tele is my favorite.

I have a fender telecaster, but it's not american, it's mexican-made, but the hardware is the same, and it has that fender sound. The only difference is the vintage value.
I played it for almost 10 years in my gospel group. We disbanded, and now I play acoustic-electric and still sing with my kids.
Been playing for 30 plus years, and would one day like to drag out the tele, and do some more serious stuff with an entire band. It plays as good today, as it did when I bought it in '93. :)

I haven't played enough teles to vote, yet. But, the Standard MIM 2008, Black n' Maple says it all to me. Any improvement would have to be a variation on the parts used and would yield a *different* sound as opposed to a better sound. If it gets better than the MIM tele I just got, holy moly!

An interesting phenomena is occurring as I play this new tele, me being new to playing fender altogether, after just a few weeks, the guitar's sound has refined my ear to hear bigger differences between it and other guitars. When I go back to my other guitars, I can sense and spot and exploit the characteristics of those guitars better. I finally put my tele down yesterday after a few weeks of clinging to it and staring at it and I broke out an Ibanez shred-bucker beast, mahogany...the tele taught me to better understand that guitar's niche, weird phenomena.

Whatever voodoo magic they got going with the tele, it's ah-mazing.

I wonder how this will translate into my acoustic experience when I get back to the acoustics, the tele does acoustics quite well and didn't need to break out the acoustics for the past couple of weeks!

No doubt, the only step-up from this in a big way will be a tele thinline bursted with a bucker or two...maybe a kahler trem (got one on my ESP, love it).

tele-out!
