Hi there,

I recently adjusted the action on my tele, and there is a bit of string buzz.

The actions follow the curve of the fretboard radius, and are not extremely low.

I would like to ask, how much buzz/noise/rattle is normal for an electric guitar?

Thanks

I think it's acceptable unless you can hear it thru the amp as well.

Yeah my guitars all rattle a bit. As long as it doesn't sound thru the amp and the sustain of the notes isn't sffected too much its ok.

It's one of those things that what might work for one person might not work for someone else. Personal preference and all that...

There's also a lot of seasonal change in this.

Cheers

It seems to be a matter of taste. I really hate string rattle, but some of my guitars play just fine with it. It just drives me nuts if I hear it.

OK, thanks people. I wanted to check there is no possible damage/extra wear caused by having some string rattle, but there isn't, so then I can keep it where it is.

Thanks for the help! :D

All my guitar have a very low action and no rattle . You have to do a complete set up ; truss rod adjust should be check and adjust.

If with a good action and neck curve you have a string rattle , you should check if metal frets have the same height . Sometimes this is the problem .
