A year ago i bought a used MIJ '69 Thinline RI . Beautiful, nice sounding mahogany guitar. But after a while I found the sound in the neck PU a bit too polite and dull. So - yesterday I changed it to a diMarzio Twang King. It definitively gave the wanted 'lift' to the sound. But when i put the pickup switch in the middle position to get sound from both pups - I get a not so pleasant tone from it. A bit QUACKY and thin , somehow a bit lower/quieter .Still a useful sound, but not exactly what I desire.... Anyone got an opinion if I have done something wrong here? :(
Thanks in advance :D

You appear to be describing a typical out of phase condition between the two pickups. What you will have to do is to reverse the black and white lead wires of the DiMarzio and, you will notice a little bare wire going from the DiMarzio's cover to the black lead wire's eyelet. This bare wire has to be changed over to the white wire's eyelet. Or, if you choose, you can cut that bare wire from the black eyelet and solder an extension wire onto it. You will then run this extension wire along with the other two lead wires from the DiMarzio through the guitar to where this extension wire should be soldered onto the back of the volume pot.

You're welcome!

Thank you, Martian. I trust that this is the answer. I suspected it to be something like that. The description along with the dimarzio said that usually the white wire in the guitar was hot , but sometimes the opposite. I'll try this when I get home later

Case closed ! Problem solved! :) Plays like a dream, now. Perhaps even an all over improvement to the sound. Though -I haven't tested it on one of my tube amps , yet. Thanks again :D
