Just picked up a nice american delxue FMT tele yesterday. I got a decent price on a new guitar since they are now discontinued and apparently didn't sale that well.

Anyhow, the dealer gave me a standard molded black plastic Fender case and I told him it came with a different case. He said he didn't find one in his warehouse and that this was the case he thought it came with, but if I found out otherwise to let him know.

After some research I found a couple of discontinued adds that stated it comes with a brown deluxe case. However, from the one small picture I was able to find it didn't look like a tweed, but different.

Do any of you guys own one of these? And if so, could you describe the case for me and what else might have been included? Pictures would be great.

Thanks for the help.

It should come with a G&G chocolate brown tolex case, a custom color so to speak and lots of case candy. I have one. Check out the clickable thumbnail.

Hello Jack Dotson,

Sounds like a sure fire example of
Dealer Case Hoarding
It almost happened to me, Held my
position and they came out with the
correct case{at least in my opinion}
Mine was for Am Ash Deluxe Strat.

Those FMT guitars are super nice.

Cheers.

Thanks so much for the response. I just picked up the G&G case today. No hang tags, etc., but I did get a pair of strap locks and a black cheapo strap. No tools, hang tags, etc.

BTW, that's a sweet looking guitar. How are you liking it? What do you think of the P/U's? I really like the traditional Tele's and wasn't sure how this one would work out, but it's turning into my go to guitar. I'm really surprised you rarely here this model mentioned.

I got it today, but it took some work. He fed me a line about how he had bought thousands of dollars worth of stock to qualify for rebates so he only got the Deluxes with the standard molded cases.

His reasoning made no sense, but he gave me the right case so all is well. I guess since these came with molded cases he must have bought these duluxe brown cases separately. Yeah, right. I've not seen a fender case like these and am pretty sure they're always provided as standard cases for the Deluxe guitars. You have to have some upgrades for a guitar that list for about two grand.

Yes, the FMT is really nice. I'll probably upgrade the pick-up's at some point, but I love the look and feel of this guitar. It's now my favorite.

I bought a fender american deluxe tele a couple months ago, it came with a black plastic case. It looks pretty cool, I loved it when I saw it... BUT!!!! it got broke in a heartbeat!!!!!
A friend of mine dropped it (empty, don't worry), less than a meter away from the floor!!!! that sucks!!!! I got really mad because that's a design problem, shouldn't happen to a good case!

Another question for you guys now that I've got my case issue resolved. How do you like the pick-up's in this guitar? I don't really care for them and try as I may cannot dial them in to my liking.

Any of you try some different pick-up's in our HH's?

I don't like the sound of mine either; but I love that ebony fretboard neck!!!!

I'm Telecaster rich right now and am thinking about selling the body pickup array soon and keeping the neck and case.

I just got my american deluxe ash tele. It came with a black plastic case but it is cutout for a strat???? Is this the new fender case design? The forward body is not held secure as there is a cutout horn above and below to accomodate a strat. the telecaster guitar can slide forward some. perhaps not with case closed. Can anyone else confirm if this is the new design? Thanks

Ya, that's the new case. I bought it after I got my mine. I brought my guitar w/ me so that I can physically place it in the case before I bought it. It's the best you'll get at a starter tele case...

Hi bro !

I have a wonderful Am Deluxe QMT/HH too and swap the original enforcers but the original pickups sounds horrible for a Suhr set SSH+/SSV w/chrome cover and now sounds amazing !

If you want a tip before a swap pickup´s, change the plastic mount rings, for a metal mount rings...

Bro... If you hear a great diference of the sound after a change !
