Anyone have any info on a Waylon Jennings custom Telecaster. Mine sounds like crap. It does not compare to my American standard in any way especially sound. Center switch is louder than 1st position and the 3rd position is way quieter than all the rest. I have raised and lowered the pickups to no avail. Guitar Center checked it out and they say everything checks out. When your on the band stand the guitar is unplayable. When you switch to the 3rd position you have to hit the volume. Anyone have a clue before I contact ender customer service? Thanks James Wade Dawson

I would just go strait to the guys who built and not monkey around. Was this something that just happened, or did the guitar always have these issues.

The Waylon Jennings model was discontinued many years ago.

According to the new Fender CS book, It was co-designed by Jennings and Larry Brook. Purhaps if you got in contact with Larry Brooks you might get some information that might be helpful.

The WJ model sported an American Series bridge plate and lacked off Waylon's "signature" binding on the body.

I can't help you on how the guitar is playing, but you should read the serial number as "S" for "Signature", "N" for "decade of the 1990s" and the "5" makes it "1995". However, Fender typically used up serial number decals; they could have used the "SN5" numbers longer than just in 1995 so it could be later. It wouldn't be an "09" for sure; that one has been discontinued for quite a while.
