Hey Fender forum!! This is my first post here! So far I only own one guitar, a fat Strat. I am getting more and more interested in guitar whenever I play it. I love the the thing however, I kinda want another guitar, for a different sound, playing experience and all that good stuff. I have looked around and fender has some pretty nice guitars but I want something with my own style, having said that I have a fat strat, I'm an HSS kinda guy. I still want that "different" sound though; so I have decided to make a Tele..... well at least when I have the cash; I'm on a budget!

So heres the build:
USA Fender Telecaster Body - $200-$300
Fender Telecaster Neck w/ Tuners - $150-$200
Dimarzio Bluesbucker (Neck) DP163 - $59
Dimarzio Area 61 (Middle) DP416 - $59
Dimarzio Area 67 (Bridge) DP419 - $69
Misc Fender Parts i.e pickgaurd, vol. pots, etc

Is it any good? What do you think? Suggestions???

Thanks,

-H

Where do you plan on getting the neck and body at those prices?

Second hand, Ebay. The neck isn't USA, probably squire.

For the amount you're going to spend on getting a body and a mediocre neck, why not just buy a used MIM standard and then replace the pickups?

For $500 you can buy a NEW MIM Standard.

Actually not a bad idea guys.... Like I said before, I had been looking at some teles; I found a NEW Nashville Tele for around $500-$600. Would I be able to fit in an HSS config? Such as the blues-bucker, Area 61 and 67 by Dimarzio. I think the Nashville's have a quite large rectangle-ish space routed towards the neck, so I'd just have to alter the pick-gaurd a bit, right?
Okay, sorry about the ramble. I just have a few more quick questions:
1.) Is the Nashville MIM (Because I don't want a MIJ, MIC, MII, etc, etc)
2.) If I were to swap out the pickups, would it be worth it to put any tex-mex single coils in my fat strat? (I currently have just the basic Fender pickups installed, nothing special... My playing style is Blues/Classic-Rock/Rock...
3.) If I don't swap them, how much would their resale value be?
4.) Is my pickup a selection a good choice or should I choose something else?
5.) Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
-H

Here's a Nashville Tele body:

Looks like plenty of room to put whatever you want in there.

The Nashville is MIM.

I'd maybe suggest trying out a few Teles and see what you like. You might like the Nashville just the way it is. Is there any particular reason you want those specific pickups you've listed?

It really depends on your overall budget, but I think you're going to get much more value for your money going with a full MIM guitar than trying to put something together from random parts. There's a lot to choose from in the MIM line - the standard is pretty good, then there's things like the Nashville, Baja, and Classic Player series if you want to spend a bit more.

+1. The Tex-Mex pups,5 way switching and Modern C neck make the Nashville a Tele worth getting to know.
