Could someone explain to me both how the S-1 Switching works as far as parralel to series and also add the tonal difference by this wiring?

I'm just trying to understand the concept of parralel and series and how that works.

Thanks so much!

when the s1 button is down, it gives a sound with increased gain and the sound is louder and better for heavier songs. when it is up it is just the usual bridge/neck pickup

I'm not an electrician, and I don't think most of the users of this forum are, so when you ask this question, I can confidently say ... I don't know.

I have two guitars that do parallel/series switching: 1) Baja Telecaster and 2)a vintage Gibson L6-S. With the myriad of setups it is gonna sound different. Viva La diffrance! Both guitars will commonly have both pickups (bridge and neck) on and switching from parallel to series can be done w/ the selector switch on the Tele and w/ a Varitone switch on the Gibson. It's funny though, the Gibson sounds more telecasterish with series+ out of phase settings, and does it with superhumbuckers! The tele sounds more like a Gibson, with single coils, in the UP position(#4), which is in parallel + in phase without the S-1 switch depressed.

So on the Tele depressing the S-1 switch takes it from in-phase to out of phase. The pickups are in parallel in position#4 and in series in position #2. The #3 position is the neck pickup only and #1 is the bridge pickup only (extra-twangy).

So bottom line you are going to be the recipient of TONE, my brother. Somehow you will manage it. 8)
