I've been playing a Classic Series '50 Telecaster. It seems to use the modern switching scheme - neck PU alone, both PU's, bridge pickup alone - all with the tone control active. Is this how this particular guitar really works? Real Telecasters from the '50's didn't work this way, did they?

According to the product listing on the products sectoion of the Fender website they make them with the switching the way yours is wired. I don't know about the originals in the 50s but the 52 Reissue is wired differently.
