Hey

I seem to have nicks out of the pole piece screws on my pickups (not big ones just some out of the nickel heads), i seem to have noticed this on a few guitars from different manufactures anyone else come across this ?, is it simply someone in the production line using a wrong size screw driver ?, just did not expect this on a high end fender, guitar still sounds great and i know there easy to replace, but still seems like a small thing that shouldn't be there, any thoughts ?.

Hey?

By "nickel heads" I presume you mean the plating covering the polepieces as the polepieces themselves should be made from carbon steel.

As you've stated, it may be wrong sized screwdrivers but I'd place the root of the problem on time constraints. Surely, gearing an assembly line to accommodate most careful placing of a screwdriver's tip and recentering it as necessary, assuring each and every polepiece shall remain cosmetically pristine, is not feasible.
