Hello everyone,

First time posting to this board.

I recently purchased a 72-reissue ash telecaster (MIJ), supposedly made between 1993-1994. The truss rod adjustment is in the neck-body joint position (which I understand is correct for this series of guitar) - however the actual adjustment device is a recessed allen socket, NOT a phillips socket.

Does this identify the neck as immediately being a fake?

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Not an immediate indication that the guitar is a complete fake. It may have simply had the truss rod nut stripped or oherwise broken and replaced.

Post some pics of it if possible, as it is sometimes easier to spot a fake or counterfeit from a picture than from a description....
