New member here, browsing the forums and enjoying the info and pics so I figured I had to add mine to the mix.

I found this one on Craigslist advertised as a 52 Hot Rod reissue, which I knew it was not. However, it's a cool guitar and a little different from the pack so I bought it for a few bucks over what MIM stds are going for around here.

It's a '95 Tele Special. Differences are; split 'bucker neck pup, vintage tuners, vintage 6-saddle bridge, 5-way switching, and a chunkier neck.

I wanted a Tele with a bit more tone variation but still with the twang from the bridge pup that defines the Tele in my mind. It has that!

About the only real wear on it is some annoying fret notching under the G string. I've ordered a Warmoth neck since it's quicker and easier to deal with than a re-fret but will keep the neck with the guitar for originality's sake.

Other than that, the only mod I might do is a three-saddle bridge.

I briefly considered swapping the neck from my Squer 51 since I really like the fat neck, but decided to keep that intact and buck up for a Warmoth.

That's a gorgeous tele you've got there. I like the bucker in the neck. I have a squier standard that I bought because of an untraditional configuration. Mine has a SD bucker in the neck and a Bill Lawrence single rail in the bridge. I blast her with bith pups running, sounds great! Have fun with her dude, and keep on rockin and a-rollin!

Thanks for the welcome, folks!

I've been tinkering with it for a few day as parts show up and just last night got it back to playable again. It still needs a bit of settling in and tweaking, and I haven't received the new head decal yet but here it is again:

Image

Now with the new Warmoth neck and 3-saddle Fender bridge with Wilkinson brass saddles. And no, it's not just the picture, the Warmoth "vintage" poly finish is quite yellow. When you get a new Warmoth neck you have to remove the finish from the frets as they spray after fret installation for better coverage. Other than very carefully locating the tuners and string trees and adjusting the truss rod, the neck is very playable right out of the box. The nut is very close and the frets are very even.

I spent a fair amount of time measuring fret to saddle to make setup easier for the new bridge. In doing so, I found that the Wilkinson saddles seemed to be offset too far, about twice as far as they needed to be. So, I grabbed a file, flipped over the saddle pieces and did my own compensation with 1/2 the offset on each saddle. I also shortened the saddle screws and springs to neaten things up. So far, so good!

And finally, because we all like to look at each other's equipment, a new group shot of the guitar corner in my living room. The last shot was an old one that didn't have my Ibanez bass.
