well said, sir.

while we are on the topic, I live in a condo with wall to wall neighbors who I would like to keep on friendly terms with. In light of that, any suggestions on an amp that would sound good in low volume situations?

Ive got a 72 thinline RI and play blues/rock mostly.

blues jr? 15w of tube isn't bad

next best would be like a deluxe reverb since it only has 22w (but a lot more expensive than a blues jr, and blues jr has a lot of neat mods out there)

Why not try an amp with ear plug jacks. I just purchased a Traynor (need I mention it here) 10 watt practice amp with a 6 inch speaker. It has volume, base, and treble plus overdrive. I want to use it when travelling on holiday in the summertime so I don't disturb my wife or other motel guests when I want to practice at 2 or 3 in the morning. Plus, it won't take up too much room in the van. Beats a 65 lb Twin Reverb custom 15 when travelling on holidays. I can also attach a Boss digital delay as well.

Actually, I don't think wattage matters much below 50 watts; it depends more on the proximity of the neighbors and their like/dislike of electric guitar driven music. I used to get complaints in my apartment complex from me playing my Blackface Champ (thin walls and floor, I suppose), until I moved. My old Champs are only 4 or 6 watts, depending on how you read the specs.

I picked up a Roland MicroCube. I think is 2 watts. Sounds good at really low volume, but also gets loud enough to play with a drummer. A lot of options and effects. And it can play on batteries.

And it was pretty cheap for what you get.
