Hello,
first time poster here.
I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on this sherwood green tele
serial number E 328****

string through body.

made in USA
very good condition.

Feel free to give an opinion on these non reissue 80s guitars.

thank you

The picture did not show but as far as the price goes it depends on the model. I can get a brand new MIA Standard Tele for $900 where I live at. Along with having a new Tele you also get a new HSC and a warranty. Up to you my friend!!

hmm,
I've been hunting around and found this posted on this forum about another guitar. I think it may apply to mine too.

the serial number on the neck of the guitar I want to buy corresponds to 83-85

but the body isn't period if what is written below is true.

I hope no one objects but since I couldn't load the images properly I've posted a link instead.

No - there is a much simpler explanation. The Tele you're looking at is an American Standard Tele from early in their production run. You would have to remove the neck to see when it was really made - these could be as early as say October/November 1986 or as late as mid-1988. The confusion comes because these first American Standards used up old headstock decals that were part of the "assets" of the company purchased from CBS in 1984. This is one of several well-know and well-documented glitches in Fender's serial number system, which is why dating a Fender by serial number is at best an approximation.

Typically you see these first-run American Standards with "E4XXXXX" serial numbers - which would date to 1984 by Fender's sytem. The reality is that CBS/Fender didn't even necessarily use up the "E3XXXXX" decals on their "Standard" (i.e. the top loader Tele and the 2-knob Strat) and their "Elite" models. There are several documented uses of some remaining "E3XXXXX" on American Standard Teles and Strats - mostly Teles.

At any rate you're looking at a very early American Standard Tele there; it looks like a very nice one.
