Man, I'm in heaven. Picked up a new American Standard Strat a couple of months ago and recently added an American Standard candy cola tele to the mix. The Strat was lonely so I couldn't refuse. You guys know how it goes.

The strat is 3 tone burst and the off white pick guard looks decent, but the tele has the standard bright white and I think it would be cool to try something different. Problem is there aren't that many colors that will compliment the candy cola (which I think looks awesome).

I was thinking of maybe a matte black. Any suggestions? Better yet, anyone else have this color with a different pick guard?

Thanks.

Black and red always look good together, as do white and black, or red and white.

So, let's combine all three of those classic combinations, and go with a black and white checkerboard pg on that red Tele.

Hello Jack Dotson,

Over in the Stratocaster forum I suggested
black pearl. Actually I first suggested green
for that complete holiday look.

Cheers.

My Friend has a candy cola strat that has a white pearl pickguard, and it looks killer! 8)

There is only ONE pick guard colour for a candy cola Tele in my head..Especially with rosewood fret board. (Actually it looks best only on Tele´s with rosewood fret board)..
And that is..:
CHROME..
I´ve got chrome pick guards on all my Tele´s, and it is soooo Hot Rod and gives a special sound together with my Texas Special pick up´s and old American standard block saddles. Wish Fender would release this set-up as a standard model. But then..It´s good I am one of maybe very few with this set-up.. :D

If it was mine, I'd go with a black guard. Someone posted a pic of their candy cola Tele with a black guard a while back and it was killer. I'm actually looking to buy a black guard on my new '50's blonde/white Tele. Like you, I'm not wild about the white one it currently has.

i'd stick with white or black 1 ply. maybe a white pearl but chrome, black pearl, checkerboard and the others are just over the top IMO.
