How come I only really enjoy playing a Telecaster? I had a nice Strat once but it seemed to lack the brilliant highs and rich lows of a Tele. I had a nice SG, but I really don't like the sound of playing a guitar with humbucking pickups at all. I'm thinking of getting a new guitar, but all I think I really want is a better Tele. I do have an old Baldwin Vibraslim that I like for certain sounds, but I always find myself reaching for a Telecaster. Is this normal?

I guess I need help too then...
I know exactly how you feel red farfisa, every time I play anything besides a Tele, I spend most of the time wishing I was playing a Tele. And maybe I'm a little biased, but I think most Tele players feel the same way.

I couldn't agree more. I never thought I was a tele man until I got a '74 w/ texas special p/u's a couple years ago. There is a crispness and clarity to the sound that no other guitar has. The twanginess has even got me more interested in country music. Has any one else been musically influenced just from getting a new guitar?

Redfarfisa don't worry about it you're just like me, but I'm not normal :D

I do find that different guitars influence the way I play, even different teles make me want to play different stuff. Even the weight of the guitar makes me feel different about the way I want to play it, then there's string gague that feels totally different, the way the neck feels etc all influences the way I end up playing a particular guitar.

You guys are all sick!

What's this fascination with Tele guitars? Next you're all gonna say you like Teles so much that you have more than one, right?

Image

What if no two Teles sound alike - what are you gonna do then?

Yeah, you guys really need help!

Hi, my name is Dennis. I'm one sick puppy.

I, um... I see my therapist next week...

Yeah I hear you guys. I've got 3 Teles and I'm SERIOUSLY gassing right now for a 52 Hot Rod. I've got a Strat - and it's cool - but I mainly bought it because I thought I probably should have one.

I would encourage everyone to buy a Tele, 'cause that would mean more Strats for me! :D

Are we all such nutters on here. I love my Tele. Every evening when i get home from work i need that baby on my knee.
Just the curves, the smoothness....the history!
I play everyweek with a friend and the music we play is better suited to my Strat but so often when i'm playing i can't stop thinking about my baby and how she would sound.

Quite normal imo. I had a '03 Highway One back in like '04-'05 and traded it. For what?
I don't even remember and I could kick my own arse ever since. Now I got an '06 Highway One and have restored balance in my pathetic guitar ridden life.

Hi Redfarfisa I can understand your love for the Tele but can't quite see your obsession with it.I love my Tele too but I also love to hear the sounds of other Fenders and other brands too.If you`re interested in increasing your tonal palette try out different model Teles,Squier makes some great reissues of Thinlines,Customs and Deluxes that are very low priced but of amazing quality of materials, fit and finish and sound.BTW maybe you need a new amp to broaden your tonal range.
