I have been wanting to learn to play for years, and i finally am gonna make the commitment to do so, so i order a squier 60's classic vibe, and due to me being a lefty, I had to order it, well weeks went by and yet no expected idea of when its was gonna show up, so I started looking around again to see what was in stock, and found a standard fender telecaster! I fell in love and cancelled my order and walked out the door with this sunburst beauty! looking forward to playing soo bad!

just screw around with it a bit... then when your ready i guess either pay an instructor to teach you to play or start off learning a song from a youtube tutorial.

Congrats on the new Telecaster! There are many YouTube videos that will help
you to learn different things. This is a site that might help you to start learning too :

Good luck!

Thanks, yeah ive been just strumming her, trying to learn some chords, ill check that site out. Im really motivated to learn how to play, big investment to spend on something im not gonna pursue, thats kinda why I went big and got a "nice" guitar first, I was really digging the 60 classic vibe strat but no one knew when I could expect one. so after handling a few I was digging this tele and digging into my pockets. glad I did, she's a looker. Is it common to file the frets? where does one go to do this? whats the cost typically?

Welcome to the forum and to the joy of playing guitar.Congrats on your new Tele-it's great to have a real good guitar to learn on.With regard to filing down the frets most people don't unless the edges protrude from the side of the neck and threaten to cut your hand. The frets may need to be crowned and dressed but that's something that very rarely has to be done on a new guitar.Any of this work is definitely for a qualified tech anyway.
