Hi guys

I know this has been brought up loads of times but i cant seem to find what Im looking for.
I thought there used to be a place on the fender website where you can input a serial number and it would give you all the info about your guitar - where and when it was manufactured, techy info etc etc.
I have a 52 reissue but when i look up the serial number it says it was made in 59?? Im sure this isnt right....i think it was re-issued in the 90's or something.
Serial number: 39652

Anyone any ideas?

Cheers

Fender kind of recycled the serial numbers - there are some '52 Tele reissues with serial numbers in the same style as the originals. For whatever reason they decided not to use the numbers that start with a "V" on the '52 Teles, probably since the numbers are stamped onto the bridge instead of being stamped on the neck plate.

The best thing to do is to email Fender's consumer relations at consumerrelations@fender.com - they have a database where they can look up guitars built since about 1993 by serial number. You can also remove the neck and see what dates are stamped onto the neck heel and in the neck pocket of the body.

Is there a way for me to access that info or is that just a Fender internal thing?

We post the specs on all current guitars on the site. For other models we have a database which the consumer guys are always happy to send you.
For a particular serial number, yeh, the details are internal. At the same time, we try to keep the serial number "schemes" posted on the site as well. Most folks here on the forum can get real close to the dating of guitars using that (as well as other sites).

Cheers!
