There is no such guitar as a "60th Anniversary Vintage Hot Rod '52 Telecaster" to my knowledge. There is a 60th Anniversery Telecaster:

and a Vintage Hot Rod 52 Telecaster:

And yes, they are both made in the USA.

I think it's a new model.

I played one yesterday and it's a different pickup configuration than both of those other ones. But, it doesn't say "Made in the USA" on the headstock. Anyone else seen this one yet?

Yeah, the 60th Anniversary Hot Rod is essentially a Hot Rod with a full size humbucker instead of the mini-humbucker. And yes, it's made in the USA.

Yes, it appears to be a Vintage Hot Rod 52 with a different neck pickup and yes, the Vintage Hot Rods are made in the US. They don't say "Made In the USA" because in 1952 they were all made in the USA and this is built like a hot rodded 52. I have the American Vintage 52 Reissue and it is made in the USA even though it doesn't say so.

Sooo, they're charging an extra $100 for a different pickup that has the same retail price as the mini-humbucker that comes on the regular 52 HR?

One of the reasons I went with the AVRI 52 Tele:

There are a few differences. I spent a few hours at the "Evil Empire" on Saturday playing both the straight 52 hot rod and the 60th anniversary 52 hot rod. For starters the 60th 52 was released in November so it's just showing up. The 60th I played felt like a pound lighter, it has the full sized humbucker in the neck and a brass intonational bridge. I had both guitars went back and forth. My opinion which is worth absolutely nothing is they are both fine instruments for the money. The straight vintage 52 has a little more sparkle on the high end but overall the 60th Ann. 52 won out. The finish, the wood grain, the weight, the sound from all pickup positions just had a lot more clarity.

I'm not sure how many 60th anniversary 52's fender made. I read the Telebrasion issues would be 300 to 1000 units.

Bottom line both guitars are very nice.

Hey guys,

Thanks for all of the input. I played one at G.C. but it was being sold as blemished - and it was, and not in a cool way. Nice guitar, though. Found a nice local shop (themusiczoo.com) that had 3 coming to them, with 2 spoken for. I just put a deposit on the third. Muhahahahaha!

The new bridge looks pretty interesting. Supposedly it allows for the sustain that you'd want from the brass bars, but gives the ability to intonate each string independently.

Happy Holidays and Cheers!
